Tax Changes in the 2000 Budget

VAT Comes to Rwanda on 1st October, 2000

Cabinet have approved that VAT should replace the Chiffre d'Affaire. It will be charged at two rates: 15% and 0%. Companies of turnover of 36 million RWF or more, will have to register for it.

This is an anti-smuggling/corruption Division under the office of the Commissioner-General. Information from the general public is encouraged and 10% of the fine meted out to tax evaders is given to the informer.
